Apologies for this basic of question but is there a simply method to report on the compressed mail archive size for the entire site?
If possible I would rather not start running SQL queries on the backend as I was informed that this is potentially dangerous to the running of the application.
Hello All,
I have a little issue we are running EV 9.0.1 until we upgrade to our new domain. Recently we were asked about retrieving documents through owa on a non-domain pc. When a user clicks on the link to pull the item from the archive an error pops up "The page cannot be displayed. Make sure the web address http://vault.internal.net is correct". So when using owa external of the network EV/OWA is looking for the internal fqdn. Which will not work externally as our external domain is a completely different fqdn. I checked the OWA exchange desktop policy and the external fqdn is listed in External web application url. But it seems that there is somewhere else still referencing the internal name. Anyone have any ideas???
Thanks
Sam

Afternoon all, I've been asked to do a search aimed at a particular user, and find out who they have emailed and who has emailed them over the last 6 months
I've setup a search in DA between the date ranges and specified in the Search Terms field, To or From Any Of and then the SMTP address I'm searching for, selecting only the Journal archive as the target
The search has run and surfaced 1000k hits, which I've accepted and now I'm trying to review. The requester wants a list of the SMTP addresses whom the user has emailed (outgoing), and a list of all the emails the user has received mail from (incoming)
I was thinking perhaps export the DA search results to PST and then pull into Exchange and try to extract the SMTP address via Powershell?
Is this a task I can achieve solely in DA? I'm pretty new to DA so still ready the manual. For exmaple, should I be targetting this user as a custodian, or have I misunderstood this function?
Does anyone have any inspiration for how else I could achieve this goal?
Thanks all
Hi There,
I am trying to delete a folder no longer required on a shared data location.
The folder location is on a NetApp Filer CFIS share.
FSA has been disabled for this location but it has left some files with a Grey X on the icon.
We have also suffered from some data loss in the backup Archives which means the original file is no longer available to be restored.
I have tried using both my Admin account and the EV Service account from both a File Services Admin Windows Server as well as the EV Archive server\r, but both accounts return an access denied eroor when trying to delete the file.
Any advise would be great.
Thanks for your time.
Hi
I installed EV 11 Ver. on Windows 2012 R2 with SQL 2012 R2 and Active Directory was installed on Windows 2012 R2 with Exchange 2013
After installing EV, I tried to start "Exchange Mailbox Archiving Task for ExchangeServer", but I always saw following error.
After I checked event ID 3329 and installed outlook 2013, but It could resolve it.
Why does it appear this error? and How can I resolve this? plz give some guide to resolve.
Dear EV specialist,
I need your advise.
I am a long KVS administrator for many years but have not supported EV for last two years due to job change. The company that I work now is in the process of introducing email archiving and they have a CommVault already in place for back up purposes.
I have seen a short demo of Commvault and I know in terms of feature and functionality it's far from EV. Can anyone highlight the main features that EV provide but not Commvault.
We are in the process of migrating our resource forest Exchange 2007 to in-house Exchange 2013. My plan is to introduce archiving and reduce the Exchange data before migrating mailboxes. I know EV does support migration from one environment to another. if we introduce EV archiving in to our current Exchange 2007 and then migrate or point EV to the new Exchange environment. DOES EV support two Exchange environments so Exchange 2007 co-existence with Exchange 2013.
thank you,
Hi
I need an information,
When EV archive disk (which active partition on itself) has been moved in disk storage, are there any log created on EV server about this issue?
If there are where can I find those logs ?
Thanks,
Hi Team,
I request for the help here. We are using EV 10.0.4 for Exchange. Our EV licensing getting expired in 1 week. I went through different Technote and see a reference for replacing the new license files. Here is my question. What would be the impact when the license gets expired? Does all EV services will get stopped?

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hello Team,
I have a user account added to 2 different provisioning group. Now when I check the archiving report, do not see any information of the user. The Archiving has been not working. Please let me know if a user is added to 2 provisioning group does the archiving stop?
Hello Gentlemen,
Our company has recently acquired some Data Domains, so we have migrated all of our Enterprise Vault Stores to the Data Domain. The process went smoothly until now:
After updating the Enterprise Vault DB fields to change the paths of the vault stores, we changed them to a UNC path to the data domain (\\data-domain\evault01\Enterprise Vault Stores\File Vault Store01). After making this change, retrieving files and everything worked just fine, and our backups were running successfully, but we noticed that the backups were only running for 5 minutes before "succeeding".
What we found was that Backup Exec wasn't actually backing up the Vault Stores anymore, it was looking for a media agent on the Data Domain, and when it couldn't find one, the backup was still marked as "success" with an error: "Media Agent not found on data-domain". It appears that Backup Exec also used these connection strings, and now it's connecting to the Data Domain as if it were the Enterprise Vault server.
Has anybody else experienced this problem? Our current solution was to create a hard-link/directory junction on our Enterprise Vault server. We were then able to change the Enterprise Vault DB entries to reference \\EVServer\hardlink\Enterprise Vault Stores instead of referencing the Data Domaind directly. This works successfully, but now our backups are running pretty insanely slowly (Less than 500MB/Minute, we're talking a few TBs of data for the open vaults), we're hypothesizing that backing up data on the Data Domain through the Enterprise Vault server might be slowing things down. Any other ideas would be seriously appreciated!
Thank you!
Adam
Hi Guys,
We are migrating from an older EV environment to a newer one using a third-party migration tool which will change the shortcuts as it moves the archived items. The following question came up:
- How does EV know that an item is already archived so it does not try to re-archive a shortcut in the new EV environment?
a) Does the archiving task do a scan every time and check message classes hence bypassing EV shortcut message classes?
b) Or does it keep tab somewhere in an sql table for items already archived?
Thanks,
I am using Ev10.3. I am importing a heap of PSTs using EVPM. I currently have Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise in a VM, with 8 CPUs. I want to increase this to 16 to get more concurrent migrations going. To do this I need to change to Windows Datacenter edition. The compatability guide mentions x64 versions of Windows but no specific versions, so my thoughts are this is supported. are there any issues with this? The ESXi (5.1) host has the resources to grant this.
Thanks.
Hi,
On my EV 10.4 CHF3 server I'm running SymHelp before upgrading to EV11.0.1 and keep getting an error for "TEMP Folder Security Test" in the Enterprise Vault 11.0.1 requirements.
The full text is:
Error TEMP Folder Security Test Error TEMP folder 'H:\AppData\Local\Temp\' does not satisfy security requirements. See the 'Installing and Configuring' manual for details of the TEMP folder security requirements.
The folder only has SYSTEM and (Local) Administrators with full control. There are no inherited permissions.
I have moved TEMP on this particular server and have other servers where TEMP is located in the default and get the same reported.
I have gone through https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.HOWTO108117.html and https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH224726.html and while I'm confident to add either of the Registry entries to work-around this I'd rather try and understand the problem.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hi all,
I have an issue where indexing seems to be running behind more and more.
When dtracing EVIndexVerifyTask adn EVIndexVolumesProcessor, I see almost only the following entry:
{IndexVolumesManager} There are currently no available slots in the work items queue.
Is it possible to somehow clear that 'work items queue'? Restart indexing service? Reboot server? SQL?
Thanks.

As you are no doubt aware, Enterprise Vault.cloud natively supports archiving of Exchange, O365 email, Domino, Box, Lync, Skype for Business and SharePoint however we also recognize that our customers are constantly expanding the tools they use for communication and collaboration and may require the archival of these content sources as well.
With the goal of providing broad support for our customers, Veritas is pleased to announce that we can now accept additional content sources captured by Globanet Merge1 into Enterprise Vault.cloud. Globanet has been a certified Symantec/Veritas partner for many years and Merge1 is already fully supported by Enterprise Vault on premise. Globanet has recently self-certified their solution with EV.cloud allowing Merge1 content to be captured into EV.cloud as well.
Merge1 will enable the ingestion of several data types not natively supported in EV.cloud today including:

Hello!
Recently we migrated from EV9 to EV11. This went pretty smooth. We had a handful of mailboxes not have their shortcuts updated to point to the new servers. We have been following a process that, exported the archive to PST, deleted shortcuts, deleted archive, imported PST. Now there are many steps that I did not include there. We have been using this process for a few months and have not had a single issue. I attempted the exact same process for a user. This time instead of placing all items back in their "Retention Folders", it created a new folder and placed all items in there. If I look at their Vault through the web page, the "Retention Folders" are now located under a folder called "Lastname, Firstname -Export Archive PST File". This is the same folder structure that was created in Outlook when the PST was imported. If I try to store an item in the original location of where the vault was prior to the export\import, I get a message stating that I do not have permission to store items in the Vault that is used for this folder. I assume I am getting this due to the fact that iin the Properties of that folder> Enterprise Vault Tab, the Vault is "Unknown". I see no errors or warnings in the Event log of the server indicating that something went wrong.
My goal:
Restore this user's Vault so the the root folder is Retention Folders
Enable the user to be able to store new items in the Retention Folder
Remove any trace that Lastname, Firstname -Export Archive PST File existed
I understand that this may not be the clearest. I have included a few screenshots in this document. Hopefully they help. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hello,
I have installed Enterprise Vault 11 and I have started to archive a couple of test email boxes. Inside the vault, I can search the archives, so they have been archiving correctly, but on Outlook 2010 the icon is showing the timer, rather than the fully achieve item.
Also, when you open up an item, there is a bar at the top of the screen that says, "Do not copy, move, or delete this item. Either Enterprise Vault is archiving the item, or it has been archived and is awaiting backup."
Can anyone please help?
